Teen mom went to sleep after stabbing newborn 9 times: cops

A Texas teen mom allegedly stabbed her newborn to death then went to sleep after the grisly murder, officials said.

Erica Gomez, 17, was arrested on suspicion of capital murder Friday after the baby girl was found dead wrapped in a bathrobe inside a storage shed at an El Paso home, news station KTBC reported.

Gomez delivered the baby girl Feb. 9 in her bathroom, according to investigators. Immediately after giving birth, she allegedly stabbed the newborn nine times.

The teen then reportedly left the lifeless baby, who suffered stab wounds and cuts to her neck and body, in a neighbor’s shed.

Authorities said Gomez went back to bed where her mother found the teen covered in blood and brought her to the hospital.

Doctors at the hospital told Gomez that she had a miscarriage, KTBC reported.

About 12 hours after the birth, her 13-year-old neighbor went into the shed and made the horrific discovery, police said.

Gomez was arrested Friday and booked at El Paso County jail on $800,000 bond.
