Man stabs himself in groin on posh Upper East Side block

An emotionally disturbed man stabbed himself in the groin on a posh Upper East Side block Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The 23-year-old was found outside on Fifth Avenue across from Central Park between E. 91st and E. 92nd Street bleeding heavily, after apparently stabbing himself with a kitchen knife, police sources said.

Cops were notified of the incident around 4 p.m., but said they were unsure what time it happened.

The man was taken to New York-Presbyterian hospital and was expected to survive.
