Teacher allegedly showed ‘cartoon porn’ to students

A chemistry teacher in Hawaii is out of the classroom after allegedly showing students an animated sex video during class – risqué footage that one parent likened to “cartoon porn.”

The teacher, who was not identified, was placed on leave after allegedly showing the video to juniors at King Kekaulike High School on Valentine’s Day for no apparent educational reason, Hawaii News Now reports.

“I just think this teacher was way out of line,” one father of a student at the school told the station. “I’m just hoping he doesn’t come back … This is not something you show students. It’s almost like cartoon porn, the way the drawings were and stuff. I got really upset.”

School officials declined to comment, but parents said that the teacher later apologized in class for showing the bawdy video.

Republican State Rep. Bob McDermott said the teacher needs to face some sort of discipline, especially since he had no business showing the video as a chemistry teacher.

“If it was done in a context of a sex ed course it would be OK,” McDermott said. “But he’s not teaching that. So he did screw up and he needs to be punished.”

McDermott, who said he saw the animated video that advocates safe sex, acknowledged that the situation would be different if parents gave prior approval for their children to see the video, which does have “some redeeming educational value,” he said.

“Not much, I saw the video, but there’s a little bit,” McDermott continued.

The school’s principal did not return requests for comment, according to the station, and a message seeking additional comment by The Post from school officials was not immediately returned Wednesday.
