Amex sues Weinstein Co. over $1.4M in credit-card charges

No more dining out on the corporate credit card for The Weinstein Co.

American Express has suspended the beleaguered studio’s charge privileges after an unpaid balance ratcheted up to $1.4 million, according to a suit filed Wednesday in Manhattan state court.

In addition to TWC’s outstanding balance, AmEx is seeking court costs and an award for unjust enrichment that’s to be determined at trial.

“American Express sent monthly billing statements,” the suit states, [but the] defendant failed and refused to pay such balance.”

The complaint comes two days after TWC announced that it will soon file for bankruptcy and five months after co-founder Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women.

TWC ousted Weinstein as co-chairman soon after detailed harassment allegations surfaced in The New Yorker and The New York Times in October.

The accusations made the studio toxic in Hollywood, and its finances have dried up.

Reps for Weinstein and the company did not immediately return calls for comment.
