NYCHA tenants, employees busted on drug charges

Federal and local law enforcement on Friday announced the arrests of 15 tenants of the New York City Housing Authority on drug and conspiracy charges.

Additionally, three NYCHA employees were arrested — one for providing the drug dealers an empty apartment from which to conduct their sales and two for buying marijuana while on duty.

Two residents were known to be living in federal housing despite prior crimes that should have gotten them tossed.

“Today’s arrests highlight the inherent dangers of allowing serious, recidivist criminals to continue to reside on NYCHA property,” said city Department of Investigation Commissioner Mark Peters.

“DOI’s Report demonstrates NYCHA’s continued failure to exclude these offenders.”

The busts stemmed from a 16-month joint probe of the NYCHA’s Sheepshead/Nostrand Houses by the FBI, NYPD and DOI.
