Truck driver arrested after dodging tolls with covered-up license plates

A truck driver was busted for blowing through a George Washington Bridge E-ZPass lane while both of his license plates were covered with gray tape, authorities said Monday.

Alejandro Sanchez, 43, was driving his 2008 Kenilworth tractor-trailer toward the upper level of the bridge on the New Jersey side around 3 p.m. Sunday when Port Authority officers noticed that he had covered both his front and back plates, according to agency spokesman Joseph Pentangelo.

When cops pulled over the toll-beater, he admitted he did not have an E-ZPass, authorities said.

Sanchez, of Hialeah, Fla., was charged with theft of service, tampering with a public document and having no E-ZPass in an E-ZPass-only lane.
