The incident, which occurred about 5:10 a.m. in the tube between Queens and Manhattan on the E and M line, did not affect train service.

“Two work trains bumped into each other. There is one MTA employee who is being treated for an injury and there is no impact to service,” the MTA said in a statement.

The worker was transported through to the Lexington Avenue-53rd Street station and taken to Bellevue Hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury, according to the FDNY. The worker suffered chest pains, police said.

According to the MTA, one train was stationary and the other was moving at the time of the accident.

Because of ongoing repairs in the 53rd Street tunnel affecting E and M train service, E trains have been rerouted to the F line in both directions between Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue and West Fourth Street.

The M line was suspended.
