Nikki Haley: US attendance at Winter Olympics an ‘open question’

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said Wednesday that it was an “open question” whether US athletes would be attending the Winter Olympics in South Korea amid tensions with the nuclear-armed North.

Haley told Fox News that there would be future “conversations” about whether the country would attend the February sporting events in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

“There’s an open question,” she told the network.

“I have not heard anything about that, but I do know in the talks that we have — whether it’s Jerusalem or North Korea — it’s about, how do we protect the US citizens in the area?”

As North Korea continues to test-launch missiles into the sea, Haley said the US would take every precaution to keep the athletes safe.

“What have we always said? We don’t ever fear anything, we live our lives,” Haley declared.

“What we will do is, we will make sure that we’re taking every precaution possible to make sure that they’re safe and to know everything that’s going on around them.”
