Left-wing activists plan protest outside Cuomo’s fundraiser

Left-wing Democratic Party activists are organizing a protest outside Gov. Cuomo’s 60th birthday fundraiser bash at Cipriani Wall Street on Dec. 14 — just across from the Trump Building –that will feature Bon Jovi and Bill Clinton.

“The occasion is Gov. 1%’s birthday, at Cipriani’s Restaurant on Wall St. at the bargain basement minimum price of $1000 (to sit with the peasants) or $50,000 for a private audience with Cuomo and his special guest – Bill Clinton. (You can’t make this up: it’s like an Onion article,” George Albro of the Progressive Action Network said in an email to activists who attended a planning meeting Wednesday night.

Other leftists who participated in the anti-Cuomo session included representatives from New York Communities for Change, Occupy Wall Street, the anti-petro group 350.org and Democratic Socialists for America, among others.

The protest is expected to include live music and mock “Happy 1 Percent” birthday cards for Cuomo.

Democrat Cuomo, who is running for re-election to a third term next year and is considered a White House hopeful in 2020, has more than $25 million in his campaign kitty, according to the most financial report filed with the state Board of Elections.

The organizers pointed out that the Wall Street Cipriani is the former home of the New York Stock Exchange and is across the street from the Trump Building at 40 Wall Street.

Cuomo and the New York State Democratic Committee have sent out emails urging supporters to attend a protest rally outside President Trump’s breakfast fundraiser Saturday, Dec. 2, outside the other Cipriani’s restaurant on 42nd Street across from Grand Central terminal.
