Giants now being billboard-shamed for Eli Manning debacle

The Giants are being assailed from all corners for abruptly tearing Eli Manning off his throne, and now that includes on highway billboards.

The electronic billboards that read “Big Blue Shame on You” in a font that mimics the Giants logo were sponsored by a group of anonymous Giants fans, The Post has learned.

The three billboards, all near MetLife Stadium, first appeared Wednesday and will appear again Thursday. They are on the western spur of the New Jersey Turnpike in Kearny, on I-80 in Elmwood Park and on Route 46 in Totowa.

The angry message plastered in the sky is yet another sign the Giants faithful do not approve of the team taking Manning’s starting spot away from him, beginning Sunday against the Raiders with Geno Smith under center.

When preparing himself for the fans’ response to the news, Giants co-owner John Mara surely wasn’t thinking of this.

“I expected there to be an emotional reaction from fans,’’ Mara said of the decision Wednesday. “I would say it’s been a little in excess of what I expected. Given what he has meant to our franchise and to so many people for so long, it’s understandable.’’

Mara wouldn’t clarify where he saw Manning’s future with the Giants, though he said it’s not time to consider him done in New York.

Manning declined the Giants’ offer to start the five remaining games and continue his streak of 210 consecutive regular-season starts, giving way to Smith and rookie Davis Webb to show what they can offer this 2-9 team.
