Erdogan pal goes against Turkey, agrees to cooperate with US

A wealthy pal of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to cooperate with US prosecutors against the wishes of his country after former Mayor Rudy Giuliani failed to negotiate a prisoner exchange on his behalf, it emerged Wednesday.

Reza Zarrab — whose cooperation has caused a rift between the United States and Turkey — didn’t mention Giuliani by name.

He caused a stir earlier this year when he hired Giuliani and former US Attorney General Michael Mukasey to help him broker a deal that might set him free.

Neither Giuliani nor Mukasey returned requests for comment.
