Straphangers save young mom from subway psycho

Straphangers at a Bronx subway station took justice into their own hands Thursday night to save a mother who was being attacked in front of her young children, shocking video shows.

The 29-year-old mother and her three children – ages 1-,4-and 8-years-old – were on the southbound 6-train around 7:15 p.m., when Ramel Jefferson threatened her with a bottle.

When the family got off the train at the Hunts Point Ave. station, Jefferson, who was drunk, followed her off the train and punched her in the face. He then pushed her into a bench and dragged her by her hair, police said.

Straphangers at the station came to the rescue before police were able to arrive. Footageshows two men holding Jefferson down and kicking him while a crowd gathers around him. A third man is shown grabbing the collar of his shirt even after police got to the scene.

Jefferson was arrested at the scene and charged with resisting arrest, assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, cops said.

The victim suffered pain to her right shoulder and lacerations to her chin and arm, but refused medical attention. Her children were unharmed.
