Burglary suspect caught after getting stuck in vent

This bird-brained thief was trapped in a vent for seven hours at the UK chicken shop he attempted to burglarize, local police said.

The 45-year-old burglar was stuck in the vent of a DFC Chicken shop in Handsworth, West Midlands — with half his body inside and his legs hanging out on Thursday morning, a photo released by police shows.

Kamran Hussain, 30, the manager of the shop, got word of the incident between 7 and 8 a.m. when a local resident called him.

“The gentleman said that he was walking past the shop when the suspected burglar shouted at him for help,” Hussain said. “But because the gentleman couldn’t touch him, he called the police instead.”

West Midlands Police officer Matthew Willocks responded and snapped a photo of the helpless suspect — who was finally released just before 9 a.m., cops said.

“The extractor unit had been removed and the suspect had climbed in to the extractor outlet at around 2 a.m.,” Willocks said in a press release. “He was completely stuck and couldn’t move at all.

“The fire brigade had to come in and use the jaws of life to pull back all the extractor casing to release him,” he added.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital and arrested on suspicion of burglary.
