Odell Beckham begs Giants to trade for Jarvis Landry

Odell Beckham Jr. was at the Giants facility Monday and could be seen working out in the weight room, still needing crutches to get around on his surgically repaired left ankle.

Beckham will not play again this season, but that did not stop him Tuesday from trying on a general manager’s hat. He took to Twitter to ask/plead/dream of the Giants trading for Jarvis Landry, with the Dolphins already dealing running back Jay Ajayi to the Eagles and reportedly willing to part ways with Landry, for the right price.

Beckham and Landry, both receivers, have been friends since their high school days and were teammates and roommates at LSU. The trading deadline is 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Clearly, Beckham is having fun with this, although he surely would love to be reunited with Landry. Of course, it will not happen. The Giants, having lost Beckham, Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Harris for the season and dealing with Sterling Shepard’s sprained ankle, are indeed woefully lacking at wide receiver.

Landry will become an unrestricted free agent after this season, and the Giants have not yet signed Beckham to a long-term deal. They are not about to add a top receiver to a 1-6 team for the short term, with no plans to sign him to an extension. Also, the Dolphins, according to reports, already have informed Landry he will not be traded.

So, Beckham’s days as a general manager appear to be over.
