Head designer of Burberry steps down — here are his best designs

Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey is stepping down from the renowned luxury label, known for its trench coats and distinctive check print, by the end of 2018.

Since joining the brand in 2001, Bailey — who was the company’s CEO for a stint — has been credited for helping escalate the transformation of the company from a small British brand into a globally recognized luxury label. The 46-year-old is one of the first fashion designers to let consumers shop right after clothes debuted on the Fashion Week runways, as opposed to the standard four-month delay. The reasons for his departure aren’t clear.

In a Burberry press release, Bailey says, “It has been the great privilege of my working life to be at Burberry, working alongside and learning from such an extraordinary group of people of the last 17 years.”

Here is a look back at the most iconic looks he pioneered.
