Daughter of jailed Vietnamese blogger wants Melania’s help

The 10-year-old daughter of a jailed Vietnamese blogger is begging First Lady Melania Trump to help free her mother.

Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh, 37, the dissident blogger known as Mother Mushroom, was sentenced in June to a decade in prison for writing anti-state reports, including one about deaths in police custody

“Please help my family reunite because I know my mother did nothing wrong,” her daughter, Nguyen Bao Nguyen, wrote in a handwritten letter posted Thursday on Facebook. “We love our mother so much and just want her to come back to us.”

The little girl, who turns 11 Saturday, made her heartbreaking pitch to the First Lady ahead of President Trump’s visit to Vietnam next month.

In March, Melania Trump awarded Quynh the “International Women of Courage Award,” which Vietnam denounced at the time, saying it “was not appropriate and of no benefit to the development of the relations between the two countries.”

Quynh started her Mother Mushroom blog in 2006 and quickly became one of the communist country’s most influential independent bloggers.
