Man killed by eatery owner was picking up wife’s paycheck: cops

The man who was fatally shot in the neck outside a Bronx seafood restaurant had accompanied his wife — a former employee of the restaurant — to collect her last paycheck when the eatery owner blasted him during a fight, cops said on Saturday.

Lorenzo Daley, 29, of Mount Vernon, NY, went with his wife Friday evening to pick up the check at Simply Seafood on White Plains Road in Allerton when he got into an argument with owner Kenton Connerly, 49, about her pay, police said. The dispute spilled out onto the street, where Connerly pulled out a gun and fired at Daley around 7:30 p.m., police said.

Daley was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, cops said.

Connerly was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

About 25 minutes earlier, another dispute turned fatal in Brooklyn.

A 62-year-old man was arguing with an employee who had done repairs on his car at the Total Auto Care Shop on East 98th Street near Ditmas Avenue in East Flatbush, when the repairman pulled out a gun and shot him twice in the upper torso, according to police.

Paramedics rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The employee, Richard Essor, 33, was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.
