David Wright rips teammates for anonymous Collins bashing

PHILADELPHIA — All the Terry Collins bashing doesn’t sit well with David Wright.

After several of his teammates made anonymous comments to Newsday questioning the manager’s handling of the clubhouse, the Mets captain lashed out Friday.

Among the complaints from players was Collins not communicating enough with them and he only paying attention to the stars on the team.

“Players are supposed to be accountable,” Wright said in a text message. “To me, being accountable is putting a name on a quote and looking in the mirror instead of pointing fingers. Seems like an easy way out to blame someone else. Just my opinion.”

Wright, who has missed the entire season — he underwent surgery this month for a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder — said any players who had problems with Collins should have spoken to the manager.

“TC’s office is 10 feet from our clubhouse,” Wright said. “He makes himself available. If you are a player [and are unhappy] go knock on the door and talk to him.”
