Cyclist killed in hit-and-run

A 30-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn early Saturday, cops said.

Michael Dalton

The victim was heading down Church Avenue, attempting to cross Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush — on a bike that appeared to be a child’s — around 8:30 a.m. when the driver of a silver Infiniti slammed into him and took off, according to police and a witness.

“A gentleman was driving the bike and the driver [of the car] was very fast,” said a man who works in a nearby deli. “He hit him. He flew like 30 feet in the air. … I ran over. He never moved. He died right away….I heard the sound when the car pushed him and [the driver] fled.”

The witness noted the victim was riding in a bus lane, but added “the car is not suppose to be that fast,” he said.

“I think the bike was for his daughter,” he added. “It was a small, pink bike.”

The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital Center, where he died of his injuries, cops said. Police did not immediately release a description of the driver.
