Why Florida is a live underdog vs. Michigan

The Wildcat returns for his 21st season in The Post. Including the 1997-2016 seasons in the Bettor’s Guide, Cat’s record in print stands at 573-479 (54.5 percent) against the spread.

Saturday

Florida (+4½) over Michigan (at Arlington, Texas): Both defenses suffered tangible losses, with the NFL snapping up eight Wolverines stop-unit starters in the recent draft. Michigan remains highly ranked, but there are questions at receiver and in the secondary, and Florida’s defensive-end pressure from the edges should keep Michigan’s quarterback(s) in hurry-up mode, throughout.

The Gators, who boast multiple QB options, went with redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks, though grad transfer from Notre Dame Malik Zaire has strong footspeed. You’re getting points with an SEC entry against the Big 10 — and this site does not favor the Wolverines (who don’t show a single hometown Texan on the roster) in the least.

Expect Michigan to be superior, later on — but this game’s barely into September! The Gators get revenge for their recent bowl embarrassment versus Michigan. Chow down with Florida, for one unit.
