Thief swiped $100K from technician refilling ATM

A thief robbed an ATM technician as he was filling a cash machine at a Brooklyn bank and made off with approximately $100,000, police said.

The 25-year-old victim was working after hours in the vestibule of a Chase Bank branch on Ralph Ave. near Avenue K in Flatlands when the suspect approached him from behind around 1 a.m.

The man told cops he felt a hard object poking him in the back and heard the thief say, “I’m going to kill you.”

The suspect then ordered him to open the interior door to the bank and directed him to the ATM terminals, according to police.

The thief emptied the machine of approximately $100,000 and snatched the worker’s cell phone before slipping off.

Police are reviewing the bank’s surveillance cameras, officials said.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
