Hatchet-wielding man drags teen into home during violent robbery

Terrifying surveillance video captured the moment a screaming 17-year-old girl was dragged into her California home by a hatchet-wielding robber in broad daylight.

The masked suspect held the weapon to the teen’s face in her Riverside home around 2 p.m. Saturday as he and his cohorts swiped the family’s belongings, according to NBC Los Angeles.

The teen had been outside with her dog when she was approached by a woman who made small talk with her. The woman — and a man — then started following the girl as she left and headed for her front door.

“From there, he grabbed her and pushed her inside the house and fell on top of her,” said the girl’s sister, who only wanted to be identified as Nicole.

“He grabbed a mask and pulled it down in front of his face,” she added. “They had a hatchet to her face when they had her in a headlock.”

The video showed the suspect wiping down fingerprints from the front doorknob before fleeing with bags. He’s followed by a second robber, wearing a yellow safety vest.

The men made off with jewelry and $5,000 cash.

“We were going to buy my daughter a new car,” said the teen’s mom, Lynn.

The teen was uninjured — but deeply shaken by the disturbing incident.

“I know that when she’s alone, it gets her the most,” Nicole said of her sister. “Being alone is terrifying now.”

Detectives are looking into whether it was a targeted robbery.
