Family fears singer last seen walking GWB committed suicide

A young Brooklyn singer who struggles with depression was last seen walking on the George Washington Bridge, sparking fears she committed suicide, her family told The Post.

Lael Feldman, 24, of Clinton Hill, went missing on Wednesday evening, and a jogger found her purse, shoes, phone and wallet on a bridge walkway, police said.

Her mom, Marla Mase, said that given her daughter’s history of depression and “many suicide attempts,” she immediately assumed she’d jumped from the bridge.

“As soon as I heard George Washington Bridge I knew it,” she told The Post. “What the f–k else would she be doing up there.”

Cops tracked down surveillance video showing Feldman, who performs under the name Lael Summer, walking from the New Jersey side of the bridge to the New York side.

“I guess she must have been walking back and forth,” Mase, 52, said.

Feldman is currently classified as a “missing person,” much to the frustration of her mom, who believes cops aren’t doing enough to look for her body.

“They have not looked in the water,” she said. “I don’t want to see her walking on the bridge, but nobody has shown us the footage to make sure it was her. [Her] dad went to the local precinct yesterday to talk to them, and he came back very upset. Somebody said to him, ‘Well you’ll find her when she washes up on shore.’”

Mase said she just wants to know that police made “an effort” to find Feldman’s body.

“I’m very sad. It’s the worst thing that could happen to me,” she said. “It seems like there should be action taken to find a body.”

According to Feldman’s Facebook page, she attended the University of Southern California’s Popular Music program and has released two albums.

“She’s a beautiful singer,” her mom said. “Most beautiful voice ever. She’s just really struggling with depression.”
