President Trump flippantly said Monday that he would fire the Health and Human Services secretary if the cabinet member was not able to gather enough votes for Trump’s health care plan.
Trump made the reality TV wisecrack about Secretary Tom Price during a speech at the Boy Scouts’ 2017 National Jamboree in West Virginia.
“Hopefully he’s going to get the votes tomorrow to start on the path to kill this thing called ObamaCare that’s really hurting us,” Trump said.
“He better get them, otherwise I’ll say, ‘Tom, you’re fired.'”
The phrase “You’re fired” was Trump’s infamous slogan while playing a boardroom CEO in “The Apprentice.”
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said the chamber will vote Tuesday on whether to debate on the legislation. It was not clear what plan they would be debating.
