Couple accused of kidnapping, sexually assaulting pregnant woman

A depraved Florida couple kidnapped and repeatedly sexually assaulted a pregnant woman whom they held captive for several days, cops said.

Manuel Escobar, 32, and his girlfriend, Tahlia Ortiz, 23, were arrested in Lehigh Acres on Tuesday and are accused of kidnapping, sexual assault and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, among other charges, the Naples Daily News reported.

Escobar and the victim, whom he apparently knew, got into an argument July 5, and the next day, he went to her house and repeatedly beat and choked her, authorities said.

He then forced the 18-weeks-pregnant victim — and her daughter — into his truck and took them to his house, cops said.

Once there, the sick couple beat the woman, and forced her to have sex with them multiple times, over several days, she told police.

Escobar, the victim said, “taunted her with a hammer” and threatened “to bash her head in” if she didn’t comply, according to the report.

And the pair forced the woman to sleep in bed with them so they could “keep an eye on her.”

During the ordeal, officials said Escobar forced the victim to drive her car to his house and then took her keys. Over a week later, he forgot to take her car keys with him, and when he left for work, she was able to use her car to escape with her daughter and alert the authorities.

Escobar and Ortiz are being held in Lee County jail without bail.
