This car chase is like real-life Grand Theft Auto

Police are hunting for a suspect they say led them on a violent car chase in Texas last week.

Casey Canales Jr. was allegedly behind the wheel of a black Dodge Charger that hit five cars — including three police vehicles — while evading officers after he was pulled over for possibly firing a gun on July 5.

Dashcam video shows officers speeding up to the parked Charger as another cop orders the driver out of the car at gunpoint. The Charger then accelerates quickly, ramming a parked pickup truck before the driver slams the car into reverse and hits the truck again in a desperate attempt to get away — a wild scene that could be likened to one from the violent video game Grand Theft Auto.

Authorities said one cop was knocked to the ground during the ordeal, but he was not seriously injured.

The 31-year-old Canales managed to flee the scene and the Charger was found abandoned a short time later.

Police later arrested Dakota Canales, 18, who authorities say was the passenger in the Charger at the time. Investigators were subsequently able to identify the driver of the Charger as Dakota’s cousin, Casey Canales, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Casey Canales is now wanted on four counts of aggravated assault on a public servant and one count of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, police say. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Lubbock Police Department at (806) 741-1000.
