You may be able to unlock your next iPhone just by looking at it

The iPhone 8 will ditch the fingerprint sensor and invite Apple fans to unlock the device by scanning their face, it’s been claimed.

A new piece of iGossip has suggested the new smartphone will no longer feature a “home button,” because the whole of the screen will be made of one continuous piece of glass.

This “improved security system” will “allow users to log in, authenticate payments and launch secure apps by scanning their face,” according to a Bloomberg report.

The iPhone 8 is expected to feature a super-glossy OLED “infinity screen.”

Experts believe this display will not have enough room for the home button, which means Apple may have to introduce a new way of unlocking the device.

Of course, we won’t know if the rumors are true until Apple unveils its new phone later this year.

Samsung recently introduced a similar facial recognition feature, but researchers claimed it could be fooled using a photograph.

Its Galaxy S8 smartphone was marketed as a super-secure device that allowed you to unlock it using your face.

But it was alleged that thieves �� or pesky friends or partners — could easily access the device by showing it a photo of its owner.
