Yankees stud is coming up to replace hurting Starlin Castro

Starlin Castro came up lame, and Tyler Wade is coming up.

Castro, the Yankees second baseman, left the game in Chicago against the White Sox in the third inning Monday after he strained his right hamstring running to first. Castro slowed down about two-thirds of the way to the base after hitting a soft grounder to the first baseman.

Rob Refsnyder replaced Castro at second base, but it appears Wade, the Yankees’ do-everything utilityman in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, will get his chance. According to various reports, the Yankees are calling up the 22-year-old, who was slashing .313/.390/.445 in SWB, with 24 steals.

Castro had vaulted himself into All-Star contention in his second season with the Yankees. The 27-year-old entered play hitting .315 with 12 home runs and 45 RBIs on a team with a bevy of injuries.

Castro wasn’t in Sunday’s lineup after he received a cortisone shot in his right wrist over the weekend.
