Five people electrocuted in water park’s pool

Five people are dead in Turkey — including two teenagers and a 12-year-old — after being electrocuted in a water park swimming pool, reports say.

The incident unfolded Friday in the town of Akyazi, in Sakarya province, according to the state-run Anadoulu Agency.

The three youths — ages 12, 15 and 17 — were said to have gotten trapped in an electrical current in one of the park’s pools.

A manager who was nearby alerted his son and the pair reportedly jumped in to try and save them, but both were electrocuted as soon as they touched the water.

All five individuals were rushed to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

A sixth person was also hospitalized, but was expected to survive.

Television footage obtained by the Sun showed park visitors and employees rushing the victims to ambulances.

A billboard, with the words “Aqualand” printed on the front in big bold letters, can be seen in the distance as paramedics drive away from the park.

Police are still on the scene investigating.
