Nike stands by Tiger Woods despite DUI arrest

Nike said it doesn’t plan on dumping Tiger Woods over his DUI arrest earlier this week, according to reports.

“There is no change in our relationship with Tiger,” a spokesman for the athletic giant told CBS News Wednesday.

Nike, which has sponsored Woods since 1996, also stood by the golf legend as his slew of sexploits came to light in 2009, while other sponsors including AT&T and Gatorade dropped him.

Meanwhile, fellow golfer John Daly, whose hard-partying ways have been well publicized, offered his sympathy to Woods.

“Tiger probably didn’t think he was feeling that bad,” Daly told TMZ. “I feel bad for the guy, man. I mean, he’s gone through all these surgeries. I’m not saying because he’s an athlete he should get away with it.”

Daly’s sage advice?

“Just get back on the golf course, man. This stuff will pass, it always does,” he said. “Hey, it proves he’s human. He’s one of us.”

Woods was arrested early Monday in Jupiter, Fla., after cops found him passed out behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz.

He blamed the bust on an “unexpected reaction” to medications he’d been taking after back surgery.

A police report showed he twice blew 0.00 on a Breathalyzer.

Cops are expected to release dashcam footage of Woods’ arrest later Wednesday afternoon.
