Trump says new health care system is ‘on its way’

President Trump promised on Sunday that a new healthcare system is “on the way” while trashing ObamaCare as “dead.”

“You can’t compare anything to ObamaCare because ObamaCare is dead. Dems want billions to go to Insurance Companies to bail out donors ,” Trump wrote on Twitter early Sunday.

“New healthcare plan is on its way. Will have much lower premiums & deductibles while at the same time taking care of pre-existing conditions! ,” he wrote.

Trump has pledged to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, former President Obama’s signature legislative accomplishment, but Congress has so far been unable to carry through on his vow.

Last month, House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the plug on a vote on the GOP-backed American Health Care Act, after the House Freedom Caucus, a more conservative bloc of Republicans, said the legislation didn’t go far enough to repeal ObamaCare.

Then last Thursday – two days before Trump’s 100th day in office – an amended version of the legislation was pulled because GOP leaders in the House said they didn’t have enough votes to pass it.

At a campaign-style rally in Harrisburg, Pa., on Saturday night, Trump once again called for an overhaul to ObamaCare, saying he will “be so angry if we don’t get that damn thing passed quickly.”

He also called out two members of Congress from Pennsylvania – Reps. Mike Kelly and Tom Marino – Republicans who have backed the GOP healthcare plan to shepherd the measure though the chamber.

“They’ll get it done. We know them. They’ll get it done,” he said.
