Milken Global Conference to attract major global figures

Time to fire up the private jet: The Milken Global Conference kicks off Sunday and if you’re looking for someone from the administration this week, try the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, not Washington, DC.

Speaking at the West Coast event — aimed at sharpening investment theses — are Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chris Liddell, the former WME/IMG chief financial officer who is now an assistant to the president. Also on hand to chew on weighty problems of the world are Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

Media invitees include SoftBank chief Masayoshi Son; Lachlan Murdoch, executive co-chairman at 21st Century Fox; Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei; Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav; and Eric Schmidt, executive chairman at Google parent Alphabet. Apple’s Eddy Cue will interview J.J. Abrams and Jon Favreau on Monday night.

If that isn’t enough stardust, how about English royalty? Prince Andrew, Charles’ brother, will showcase a host of startups.

We’re wondering what the schedulers had in mind when they slated these two sessions at the same time, however: “Russia Revealed: Where Moscow and Washington Go From Here” and “My Organization Has Been Hacked — Now What?”
