The Texas Rangers made their six-year, $49.5 million extension with second baseman Rougned Odor official Thursday.
And a previously unreported contract perk was revealed in the process: The Rangers sealed the deal by including a couple of horses.
Seriously, this isn’t an early April Fools’ joke. Here are the horses:
Odor, 23, posted career highs across the board in his third season in the majors in 2016, hitting .271/.296/.502 with 33 homers, 33 doubles, 88 RBIs and 89 runs scored.
We knew he dabbled in boxing thanks to his knockout of Jose Bautista, but Odor’s equestrian skills are a surprise.
In hindsight, however, it makes perfect sense for a Ranger.
