People really want the ‘Fearless Girl’ statue to be permanent

Hell no, she better not go!

Lawmakers and activists gathered in lower Manhattan Saturday to press city officials to keep the “Fearless Girl” statue as a permanent installation.

The 50-inch-tall bronze girl stands defiant, with hands on her hips, staring down the “Charging Bull.” It’s become a popular attraction since it was installed on the south end of Broadway earlier this month.

“This statue has touched hearts across the world with its symbolism of the resiliency of women,” said Rep. Carolyn Maloney, (D-Manhattan).

The piece was installed by State Street Global Advisors, an asset-management company, ahead of International Women’s Day, and is meant to inspire more firms to hire women.

The statue is to remain in place until April 2.
