Man charged with having illegal pet after he’s bit by venomous snake

Fangs for nothing!

A Staten Island man who sliced off the head of his venomous pet snake after it latched onto his arm was slapped with a summons for keeping the illegal pet, police said.

The 27-year-old, identified by a source as Michael Larneard, was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center’s poison control unit after the Friday night incident.

Larneard used a fishing knife to cut off the serpent’s head after it sunk its fangs into him, authorities said. He was released from the hospital Saturday.

Authorities searching the residence also found a boa constrictor and are still looking to see if Larneard kept any more critters.

Larneard was issued summonses for keeping illegal pets — the viper that bit him, as well as a boa constrictor, police said.
