Giants defensive backs rejected infamous Miami trip

The Giants wide receivers weren’t the only ones invited to Miami for the infamous boat trip with Trey Songz and Justin Bieber.

The defensive backs were, too, according to safety Landon Collins. But they opted to pass.

“We decided to do something different,” Collins said Wednesday on “SportsCenter.”

Collins declined to reveal how the defensive backs — a group that presumably includes cornerbacks Janoris Jenkins, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Eli Apple — spent their off day the week of the wild card playoff game against the Packers. Collins said he had no issue at the time with the trip made by Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz, Sterling Shepard and others, and still doesn’t.

“We didn’t mind it at all,” said Collins, named first-team All-Pro in his sophomore season. “That was our off day. You have every right to do what you want to do on your off day.

“When they came back, we thought we were gonna have a big meeting. Coach [Ben] McAdoo was like, he didn’t really hit it, but he touched on it, but it wasn’t a big thing that messed with our minds and stuff like that.”

Songz took a dig on Twitter at Collins and the Giants secondary during the ugly loss to the Packers, seemingly in response to the criticism the receivers got for spending the day in Miami with him.
