Ferrari driven by Tom Selleck on ‘Magnum, P.I.’ to be auctioned

A slice of Hawaiian paradise — a red Ferrari that turned heads on the set of “Magnum, P.I.” — is hitting the auction block this week.

Auction house Bonhams is hoping to fetch between $150,000 and $250,000 for the 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, driven by the mustachioed detective played by Tom Selleck on the classic, Oahu-based TV show.

The car was used for filming in the middle of the fourth season of the series, in 1984 and 1985, according to Bonhams.

The Ferrari is believed to have been used for light action shots and close-up scenes, due to its low mileage and pristine condition.

“This Ferrari captured the hearts of millions throughout the 1980s in living rooms across America as Tom Selleck piloted this exact car around the streets of Hawaii in the pursuit of justice,” Bonham’s website says.

The 232-horsepower, V8-powered vehicle, which features a tan leather interior, has less than 36,000 miles and its second, and most recent, owner has had the car since 1989.

It will be sold off Thursday at Bonham’s Scottsdale, Arizona, auction.
