Yankees taking a long look at Mets castoff Ruben Tejada

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — The Yankees have an interest in infielder Ruben Tejada on a minor league deal.

Released by the Mets last March, Tejada was signed by the Cardinals three days later. The Cardinals let him go June 1 and the Giants signed him June 17. In a combined 36 big league games Tejada batted .167 (11-for-66).

Tejada, who turned 27 in October, played in 43 minor league games and batted .303 (46-for-152).

Following Thursday’s Rule 5 draft, the Yankees hope to bring back right-handed reliever Nick Rumbelow. Rumbelow, 25, appeared in one Triple-A game this past season before requiring Tommy John surgery. He went 1-1 with a 4.02 ERA in 17 big league games in 2015.
