Union offers $25K reward in jail guard home invasion

The state prison guards’ union is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the gunmen who opened fire on a retired correction’s officer and his wife during a home invasion in Queens on Sunday.

“We are shocked at the shooting of one of our most valued members and his wife. This level of violence, especially against a law enforcement member, cannot be tolerated,” said NYS Correctional Offices PBA president Michael Powers.

“We will provide whatever support is necessary to the NYPD to catch the individuals responsible for this heinous act. It is our hope this reward encourages someone to come forward and provide information that leads to the arrest of these violent individuals. Our thoughts are with Henry [Wright], his wife and entire family, and we wish them a healthy and speedy recovery.”

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to please contact Crime Stoppers at: 1-800-577-TIPS

Wright, who was a corrections officer for 35 years, and his wife Sharon Floyd Wright were shot by two men who forced their way into their Jamaica, Queens home on Sunday evening.

“We will help Henry and his family with whatever they need as they take this long road to recovery. I would like to commend the NYPD and the entire law enforcement community for their support during this difficult time,” said, NYSCOPBA vice president Clarence Fisher.

Wright was shot five times during the home invasion, and his wife, Sharon, was shot once in the shoulder.

Wright underwent surgery for his gunshot wounds and is still hospitalized and in critical condition, the union said. Sharon has been released from the hospital.

The NYPD is currently investigating the shooting.
