A man jumped off a highway sign on a Queens expressway and into oncoming traffic on Wednesday — but was saved by a trucker and another driver, officials and witnesses said.
The man climbed over a broken fence and hopped onto the 48th Street sign hanging over the Long Island Expressway near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, before jumping onto the roadway around 11 a.m.
Drivers of a tractor trailer and another vehicle passing by immediately rushed to the man’s aid.
Paramedics then arrived and transported the man to Elmhurst Hospital with multiple trauma, according to a fire department spokesman.
His injuries are non-life-threatening, according to police.
