Police have charged the man who savagely beat his 3-year-old stepson — leaving him brain-dead — at his girlfriend’s Brooklyn apartment, authorities said early Wednesday.

Salvatore Lucchesse, 24, was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child after being questioned for several hours at the 61st Precinct. He will likely be arraigned sometime Wednesday.

Lucchesse was taken into custody after someone at his girlfriend’s home on West 5th Street in Gravesend called 911 Monday afternoon.

When they arrived, paramedics found the boy, Jaden Jordan, unconscious with a severe head wound and covered in feces. Lucchesse told police he was trying to bathe the boy when he slipped in the tub.

Jordan is currently on life support at Coney Island Hospital. He is said to be brain-dead, sources said.

Several days earlier, the Administration for Children’s Services had received an anonymous tip alleging a case of child abuse at the location, but the agency apparently was given the wrong address.

When the workers showed up and found no signs of abuse, the case could not proceed, sources said.
