So Hillary Clinton has joined recount efforts in some key presidential election states, which — I guess — is her prerogative as a sore loser.
Even President Obama has said this is a foolish move.
From the point of view of a journalist, which I am, this is great because “joining recount” plus “Hillary” equals “more stories.”
Even better it opens the door for President-elect Donald Trump to reconsider his generous, but bad, decision not to investigate Clinton when he takes office.
I mean, if she wants to be a pain in the arse, so can the future POTUS.
And to step it up a bit, Trump could not only have the FBI and a special prosecutor investigate the e-mail scandal and the Clinton Foundation’s financial dealings — that would be his prerogative as, perhaps, the sore winner — but also he could insist on probing those myriad payments for speeches that smack of influence peddling.
What’s more, the new president could work to uncover the numerous cases of obstructions of justice that the Democrats were hoping would never come to light if Clinton had have won the presidency.
As I said before and I’ll repeat here: the Clintons look like a pretty organized crime operation to me.
Talk about misjudging the situation. The nonsensical recount will be over in a few weeks, with zero upside for the Democrats, while a perturbed Trump could reverse his call on a Clinton investigation. In fact, that threat could hang over her as long as Trump is in office.
I think Clinton should beg President Obama for a pardon — if she hasn’t already. If she doesn’t get it before Obama leaves office, she is going to be looking over her shoulder for years.
Joining the recount effort? Call it her dumbest move yet. And that is saying something.
