Woman shot at Quinceañera

A 22-year-old woman was shot Sunday when a man who was thrown out of a large birthday party at a Washington Heights community center opened fire, authorities said.

The suspect and a friend were attending a Quinceañera — or 15th birthday party — when they got into a fight with the girl’s godfather, who asked a bouncer to throw them out of the Amsterdam Avenue building near West 159th Street around 3 a.m.

After the security guard escorted them onto the street, one of the men pulled out a gun and began shooting around 3 a.m.

The man’s bullets were intended for the bouncer but instead struck the right leg of a woman who just happened to be standing outside, police said.

The two men then fled the scene and the victim managed to bring herself to Metropolitan Hospital through private means.

Police are still looking for the two men.
