Suspected drunk driver runs over himself outside strip club

A suspected drunk driver fell out of his pickup truck moments before running himself over after leaving a strip club in Florida, surveillance video shows.

Williams Robert Edwards, 28, is seen leaving the Dancers Royale strip club in Orlando at about 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 25 when security guards from the club try to stop him from driving away. But Edwards stepped on the gas and made a hard right turn while pulling out of the parking spot, launching himself out of the truck. The vehicle then rolled over his legs, the video shows.

The truck then crashed into a nearby home, injuring Barbara Hernandez, 58, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Edwards ran off on foot, leaving his damaged white 2016 Ford pickup behind.

Adrean Larrea said his mother was sleeping when Edwards’ truck crashed into her bedroom and claims a nearby ditch that slowed the truck down saved her life.

“If that ditch wasn’t there, my mom would be in a funeral right now, underground,” Larrea told WFTV. “They had to break the window to get in to turn off the car because the car was like smoking.”

Edwards managed to leave the scene of the crash despite being run over “like nothing even happened,” Larrea said.

But authorities later tracked down Edwards, who is known as a regular at the club, because he left his driver’s license there, according to the arrest report — which notes that security guards at the club told him not to drive because he appeared drunk.

Edwards was arrested on Oct. 31 and charged with hit and run and careless driving, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
