Donald Trump recites glowing Belichick ‘letter,’ Tom Brady ‘call’

On election day eve, Donald Trump is throwing a Hail Mary.

The controversial Republican candidate said during a New Hampshire rally Monday night he had gained the votes of NFL greats Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, the faces of the nearby New England Patriots.

According to Trump, the coach, who’s known as much for his secrecy as his genius, wrote him a letter that he asked Trump to read aloud.

“Congratulations on a tremendous campaign,” Trump read in the alleged Belichick letter. “You have dealt with an unbelievable slanted and negative media and have come out beautifully. You’ve proved to be the ultimate competitor and fighter. Your leadership is amazing. I have always had tremendous respect for you, but the toughness and perseverance you have displayed over the past year is remarkable. Hopefully tomorrow’s election results will give the opportunity to make America great again.”

Trump also told the Southern New Hampshire University crowd his “friend” Brady gave him a call. According to Trump, Brady even gave the under-fire candidate permission to tell his fans the four-time Super Bowl champ would be voting for him.

It would be a reversal for Brady, who said Monday morning on WEEI radio he had not yet cast a ballot and would reveal whom he voted for next week on the show. On Oct. 12, Brady abruptly exited a press conference after being asked about a recording in which Trump bragged about sexually harassing women. Three weeks ago, Brady explained his silence on Trump by saying he tries “not to make headlines.”

Yet, according to Trump, “great guy, great champion, unbelievable winner” Brady has caved.

“He called today,” Trump said, “and he said, ‘Donald, I support you, you’re my friend, and I voted for you.'”
