Mom says posh private school ingnored son’s molestation because he’s black

A woman is suing an elite private school in Manhattan, saying administrators turned a blind eye when her son was molested by an older student because he was one of the only black kids at the school.

Tshinguta “Lily” Lufuluabo’s 9-year-old boy attended the $44,000-a-year Nord Anglia International School on East Second Street on a full scholarship because she worked there as a receptionist.

Lufuluabo says in court papers that her son was sexually abused by an 11-year-old male classmate in April 2015 when he was 8.

The school issued a report about the incident, but did nothing to protect her son, whom she repeatedly found alone with the older boy, according to court papers.

Lufuluabo told her boss that her concerns were being ignored because the school had a history of mistreating minorities, including a co-worker allegedly saying that “parents prefer Anglo-looking teachers.”

She was fired in June, just weeks after submitting a written complaint, the suit says. Her son also did not return to the school.

Ann McPhee, a director for Nord Anglia, said, “The school has extensively investigated the allegations of employment discrimination and retaliation and concluded that they are wholly unfounded. The school will be vigorously defending itself against these allegations.”
