A record number of NYPD cops looked into retirement from the department Tuesday night, as hundreds packed a Queens banquet hall for a pension benefit seminar.
Union head Patrick Lynch says “bad morale” is behind the record 850 NYPD officers — at least three times the normal number — who attended the yearly event in Queens Village. “Tonight shows just how bad morale is,” Lynch told The Post.
“It’s an all-time low, because of lack of support to the police officers . . . They’re just leaving because it’s too dangerous to stay,” said Lynch, adding that cops were upset with “increased oversight, increased responsibility and decreased salary.”
