Dozens of bearded dudes took to the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, Tenn., recently to compete in this year’s National Beard and Mustache Championship.

The event, which took place over Labor Day weekend, consisted of 17 specific categories ranging from Best Freestyle Mustache to Best Amish Beard and Best Musketeer Beard.

“I was shocked with the 1st place ‘Verdi’ win and then was dumbfounded with the Best In Show award… which I figured I had zero chance of winning,” said Best Overall winner Taylor Welden on Instagram.

Next year, the hirsute hopefuls will compete in Los Angeles, according to the competition’s website.
