Trump campaign sees fundraising surge

Donald Trump’s campaign may be struggling, but his fundraising is ramping up with an $80 million haul in July, Team Trump reported Wednesday.

The contributions — which came into the campaign, the Republican National Committee and state party committees — included $64 million from small donors.

Trump aides said that represented a 69 percent surge and was proof of “the broad based support of over one million donors across America.”

In June, Trump raised a total of $51 million.

Trump reported having $37 million left in his treasury, while joint fundraising committees had an additional $37 million.

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton’s campaign said that it took in $90 million last month — $10 million more than Trump.

Four years ago, President Obama’s re-election campaign raised more than $75 million in July, while GOP challenger Mitt Romney collected than $100 million.
