What to know about Yankees’ pitching haul from Beltran deal

Here’s a look at the three players the Yankees acquired from the Rangers in exchange for Carlos Beltran:

RHP Dillon Tate

The fourth pick in the 2015 draft was a reliever in his first two years at UC Santa Barbara and is in his second year as a starting pitcher. Mechanical problems and a hamstring injury earlier this year are considered the reasons the right-hander had a 3-3 record and 5.12 ERA in 17 games (16 starts) for Single-A Hickory as well as velocity hovering in the low 90s. His second best pitch is a change-up. The 22-year-old, who signed for $4.2 million with the Rangers, is ticketed for Single-A Charleston where he will be a reliever.

RHP Erik Swanson

The 22-year-old was an eighth-round draft choice of the Rangers in 2014 and is viewed as a reliever. According to scouts, he could eventually be a middle-innings guy. In three minor league seasons, he is 8-6 with two saves and a 3.52 ERA in 44 games.

RHP Nick Green

Green was taken in the seventh round of the 2014 draft out of Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, and is similar to Swanson in that his future will be as a reliever. He was 2-2 with a 4.98 ERA in seven starts with Single-A Spokane this season. Green was drafted by the Yankees in the 35th round of the 2013 draft, but did not sign.
